Verhuizing nagenoeg afgerond

De verhuizing van de Bibliotheek WenST is nagenoeg afgerond. In de voorbije weken zijn heel wat strekkende meters boeken en tijdschriften verplaatst. Om een idee te geven van de omvang van de verhuizing:

• 600 m. boeken zijn geïntegreerd in de collectie van de Centrale Bibliotheek, die daardoor verdubbeld is in omvang
• 600 m. tijdschriftenbanden zijn verplaatst naar het Bibliotheekmagazijn in het Hoofdgebouw
• 843 meter tijdschriftbanden zijn afgevoerd omdat de tijdschriften digitaal beschikbaar zijn
• 243 m. boeken en tijdschriften ligt klaar om verscheept te worden naar de universiteit van Pattimura, Ambon Indonesië

Removal almost complete

The removal of the WenST library is now almost complete. Many books and journal volumes were brought to their new location during the past few weeks. To give you an idea of the magnitude of this removal:

• 600 meters of book shelves were integrated into the Central Library collection, thus doubling its size.
• 600 meters of journal volume shelves were moved to the Library Stackroom in the Main Building.
• 843 meters of journal volume shelves were discarded as these journals are now available in digital form.
• 243 meters of book and journal volume shelves are ready for shipment to Pattimura University at Ambon, Indonesia

Een van de elementen -zonder ramen- dient als sluis tussen de huidige bibliotheekzaal en het noodgebouw.

Plaatsing noodunits begonnen

Maandag 9 juli is de firma De Meeuw begonnen met het plaatsen van de noodunits. Dat is een spectaculair gezicht. Met een grote kraan worden de afzonderlijke units op hun plaats gezet. Om 9.00 uur waren al 4 units geplaatst.

Placement of temporary building units begins

The De Meeuw firm has begun placing the planned temporary building near De Hal. This offers a spectacular view. The component units are being put in place by a large crane. Four units had already been placed by 9.00 AM.

Plaatsing noodunits begint op 6 juli

Plaatsing van de noodunits heeft consequenties voor studenten en medewerkers in de gebouwen rondom Het Kranenveld. De parkeerplaatsen op het Kranenveld komen te vervallen, de invalidenparkeerplaatsen worden verplaatst.

De noodunits worden geplaatst door Fa. de Meeuw. Vrijdag 6 juli begint men met funderingswerkzaamheden. Het Kranenveld zal dan worden afgesloten met hekken.

In week 28, die begint met 9 juli, zullen delen van het noodgebouw met vrachtwagens worden aangevoerd. Dit zal voor overlast zorgen, zeker voor degene die studeren in De Hal. Hen wordt aangeraden gebruik te maken van de andere bibliotheeklocaties, zoals bibliotheek Technologie Management in het Paviljoen, maar ook de WenST Bibliotheek in de W-Hal blijft een rustige studie-omgeving tot de sluiting op vrijdag de 13e. Wij betreuren de overlast maar vragen hiervoor uw begrip.

Aan het eind van week 28 zal het gebouw in casco gereed zijn, waarna het wordt afgebouwd en ingericht. Nog voor de aanvang van het komend academisch jaar zal het gebouw in gebruik kunnen worden genomen.

Placement of temporary building units to commence on 6 July

Placement of temporary building units has consequences for students and staff in buildings surrounding Het Kranenveld. Parking spaces on Het Kranenveld will no longer be provided, and parking spaces for the disabled will be moved elsewhere.

The temporary units will be placed by the De Meeuw firm. Foundation works will commence on Friday 6 July. Het Kranenveld will then be closed off with fences.

During week 28, beginning 9 July, parts of the temporary building will be transported to the site by trucks. This will cause disturbance, certainly for people studying in De Hal building. We therefore recommend to switch to other sections of the TU/e Library, like the Technology Management department library, Paviljoen building. Until Friday 13 July however, the WenST library will remain a tranquil place for study. We regret this disturbance but hope you will understand that this is inevitable.

Placement of the temporary building will be finished by the end of week 28. Work on the interior will follow. We plan to have the building ready for use by the beginning of the coming academic year.

Studieplaatsen in noodunits

Aan de noordzijde van de Centrale Bibliotheek worden noodunits geplaatst. Dit noodgebouw zal een oppervlak van 45 x 12 meter beslaan en komt op ca. 6 meter afstand van De Hal te staan. Het krijgt een rechtstreekse verbinding met de huidige bibliotheekzaal via een overdekte sluis. In deze ruimte worden ca. 140 studieplaatsen gerealiseerd.

Seating in temporary units
Temporary building units are to be placed at the northern side of the Central Library. This temporary building will have a floor area of 45 by 12 meters, and will be placed at approx. 6 meters distance from De Hal building. It will be connected to the present Central Library via a covered passage. The new space will offer seating for approximately 140 library users.

Over lenen en inleveren van boeken

De leentermijn van boeken uit de collectie van de Bibliotheek WenST en de Centrale Bibliotheek is tijdelijk verlengd tot 8 weken, zodat de boeken die u nu leent pas ingeleverd hoeven worden na de verhuizing.

In de periode van 16 juli tot 3 augustus kunt u geen boeken lenen uit de collectie van de WenST Bibliotheek en de Centrale Bibliotheek.

U kunt geleende boeken wel inleveren bij de Centrale Bibliotheek in De Hal of bij een van de andere bibliotheeklocaties.

Borrowing and returning books
The loan period for books from the WenST department library and the Central Library has been temporarily extended to 8 weeks, so you can return books you borrow now after the library removal.

Book lending from the WenST library and Central Library will be suspended from 16 July until 6 August.

During this period however, books may be returned to the Central Library, and to other sections of the TU/e Library.

Bibliotheek WenST is gesloten vanaf maandag 16 juli 2007
De Centrale Bibliotheek in De Hal zal wegens herinrichting gesloten zijn van 16 juli t/m 3 augustus 2007.
De overige bibliotheeklocaties zijn geopend van 9.00 tot 17.00 uur

Overige organisaties in De Hal
De ICTheek en het Notebook Service Centrum in De Hal zijn van 16 juli tot 10 augustus geopend tot 17.30 uur. Geen avondopenstelling.

Summer holiday opening hours
WenST library closed as from Monday 16 July 2007
The Central Library will be closed for refurbishment from 16 July to 6 August 2007.
All other sections of TU/e Library will be open Monday-Friday from 9.00 to 17.00 h.

Other institutions in De Hal building
The ICTheek and the Notebook Service Center in De Hal building will be opened until 17.30 h. from 16 July to 3 August. No evening opening hours.
